In 2007, John Maloof, a real estate salesman in Chicago bought a box of negatives at a furniture auction. The purchase led to the discovery of over 100,000 negatives and hundreds of rolls of undeveloped film taken by an unknown, reclusive street photographer named Vivian Maier. The thousands of black and white negatives revealed an intimate, personal, almost secret view of life on the streets of Chicago through the 1950s and 60s.
