Sonic Memorial Project
An intimate and historic documentary commemorating the life and history of The World Trade Center and its surrounding neighborhood, through audio artifacts, rare recordings, voicemail messages and interviews. The Sonic Memorial Project was produced by The Kitchen Sisters in collaboration with NPR, independent radio producers, artists, writers, archivists, historians and public radio listeners throughout the country.
The Making Of...
The making of the Bay Bridge. The making of a jar of jam. The making of the iPhone, an opera, a surfboard… The Making Of is a community documentary project that captures the art, creativity and innovation going on in backyards, workplaces, cultural institutions and public spaces throughout one of the most diverse and innovative regions in the country.
Early Stories
The Kitchen Sisters are the creators of more than 200 stories for NPR and public broadcast. They began their radio lives producing a weekly live radio program in the late 1970’s on KUSP-FM in Santa Cruz, California. Their radio documentaries have been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and Morning Edition, the BBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Radio Smithsonian, Pacifica Radio, and others.
